When Sten Oomen had her first out-of-body experience, she was 18 years old. Neither in her direct surroundings nor in her circles of friends and acquaintances could she find any information about what had happened to her. Because of the fact that this peculiar and sometimes even scary event kept repeating itself, she decided to keep a diary in which she noted all her experiences, feelings and visualizations. Just what are out-of-body experiences? Most people do not have them consciously, but more often remember a vivid and realistic dream. Sometimes they wake up with an intense falling sensation, which signifies the astral body returning to the physical body. When dreaming stops, the out-of-body experience often begins.

In the first part of the book, she describes the surroundings where one arrives upon leaving the physical body. Dear Reader,

This is the first edition of Door het Raam (Through the Window), first published in June 2000. This is the unofficial translation by Oene Spanjer and Sten Oomen, who are both Dutch natives. The translation still needs to be edited by a native speaker of English. Through the Window was republished in a new and revised edition in June 2004. This new edition contains:
- a revised introduction by Dr. Jos Scheerboom
- updated text throughout
- a new chapter about Astral Eroticism (20 pages in length)
- original drawings by Sten Oomen

These changes have not yet been made to this text.

In the meantime, however, I've had a lot of new experiences that have landed in another book: Through the Gate – Experiences with Astral Eroticsm (2007). You have to be patient if you want to read it, as it hasn't been translated to English yet. In 2008, I published Through the Night – A Practical Do-book for Out-of-body Experiences. This book hasn't been translated to English yet, either. A fourth book, this time a children's book, Through Heaven -- Everybody Has Wings, will be published soon.
